Tidy Gherkin – Gherkin Chrome App

In this blog lets understand features of Tidy Gherkin, an awesome chrome app for writing feature files.

Tools like Cucumber are created to enable non technical people to participate in the development directly. But then expecting the same people to use Eclipse or InteliJ to write feature files is not a fair expectation. Because sometimes these people know more about a domain and less about how to use Eclipse etc. In such scenarios not necessarily the BA Team is open in learning tools like Eclipse etc.

Instead of asking your domain people to learn Eclipse for just to write feature files, its better to look for other options which are easy to use and serve the same purpose of enabling the BA team in writing Feature Files.

Once such App is Tidy Gherkin:

  • Its Chrome App, so very easy to install
  • No need to install IDE like Eclipse etc
  • No prior knowledge needed for any Development IDE
  • Free
  • very light weight
  • Easy to use and learn

  1. Great post Shankar. I’ve used Tidy Gherkin to quickly format Gherkin files a few times – good software! I couldn’t really integrate it into my workflow though, and am back to screen capturing from Eclipse. What I REALLY need in life, if any one knows of it, is a fast way to get CSS styles and formatting into a Gherkin snippit. I want to take a source Gherkin file, and post it on my WordPress sites. So far, no easy joy….
